Following the conceptual framework established in my Chasing Rainbows exhibition, the video game adaptation—developed during the World Building Fellowship by Epic Games and 3Lateral—represents the next step in exploring immersion, participation, and the expanded possibilities of digital space.

Initially conceived as a looped animation, Chasing Rainbows was an introspective narrative—one where my digital avatar endlessly ran and flew through an abstract, simulated utopia. The animation questioned the idea of freedom and pursuit, suggesting that the search for meaning often exists in an infinite loop. The subsequent paintings followed this same impulse—rejecting fixed pictorial traditions, reducing image-making to amorphic color fields, and rendering a world in which only the sensation of movement, transformation, and atmosphere remained.

With the development of the Chasing Rainbows video game, this concept was taken further, allowing direct audience participation in a world that was previously only observed. Built within the Unreal Engine ecosystem, the game situates the player on an imaginary floating island suspended in the clouds, where the amorphic forms from my paintings hover above, shifting and reforming in an endless dance of transformation. The island itself functions as a transitional space, evoking both meditative tranquility and existential uncertainty.

Unlike traditional gaming experiences, this interactive world does not impose objectives, enemies, or conflicts. Instead, it offers a space of exploration and introspection, where the player navigates a landscape shaped by their own movement and perception. This mode of engagement aligns with my broader artistic approach—where immersive technologies are used not to simulate hyperreality, but to construct poetic, speculative environments that invite the participant to reflect on their presence within a digital utopia.

By integrating video game mechanics into my ongoing artistic inquiry, Chasing Rainbows challenges the hierarchy between the observer and the observed, the artist and the participant. It invites players to navigate a landscape where nothing is fixed, yet everything is interconnected—where reality is suspended, leaving only the pursuit of an ever-elusive horizon.

In this way, the Chasing Rainbows video game does not merely extend my previous work—it reconfigures it into an immersive, participatory space that blurs the line between animation, painting, and interactive media. Through the technological framework of Unreal Engine, the piece evolves into a fully experiential artwork, where world-building itself becomes a form of artistic expression.
